Richard A. Stevens, 54, LaPorte, died of natural causes at 3:10 a.m. Monday (Feb. 16, 2004) at his home.
A memorial service is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte. There is no visitation.
He was born May 27, 1949, in LaPorte to Arthur and Betsy Jane (Wiltfong) Stevens. His mother survives in LaPorte. On April 18, 1975, in LaPorte, he married Linda Gregory, who survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Angela Stevens and Jamie (Craig) Bargholz, both of LaPorte; one son, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Stevens, LaPorte; three grandchildren, Autumn and Dustin Stevens and Krystel Bargholz; two sisters, Diana Krush, Romeoville, Ill., and Linda Evans, Booneville, Ky.; and one brother, Roger Stevens, LaPorte.
His father and one sister, Janet Sue Stevens, preceded him in death.
Mr. Stevens worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation for 11 years. He then worked for Arrow Trucking for 15 years. He was a former member of the Kingsford-Union Volunteer Fire Department. He received a Purple Heart while serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
