Richard "Rich" Vern Lute, Sr.

Richard "Rich" Vern Lute, Sr., 75, of Hanna, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso.

Rich was born on May 4, 1943 in South Bend, IN, to Vern C. and Edith (Holmberg) Lute.

On June 24, 1961 in La Porte, he married Harriet Marie Scarborough who survives.  Also surviving are his beloved children, Dawn (Mike) Miller of Hanna, Darla (Bob) Eaton of Union Mills, Vicki (Jimmy) Baker of Georgetown, KY, and Richard (Robyn) Lute of La Porte; grandchildren, Matt (Ashlee) Baske of Union Mills, Brooke Miller of Hanna, Derek (Jonae) Doms of Savanna, IL, Jordan Doms of Wanatah, Marlee (Chris) Doms of Michigan City, Matt (Cathy) Eaton of Westville, Shawna (Kevin) Coffee of Portage, Sara (Jeremy) Thompson of Westville, Eric (Jess) Eaton of La Porte, Shannon and Samuel Garrison of Georgetown, KY, Joshua (Samantha) Lute of Yakima, WA, and Richard (Kimi) Lute of La Porte; many great-grandchildren; brother, John (Sue) Lute of South Bend.

He was preceded by his parents and 2 sisters, Barbara and Anne.

Rich was a Local 150 Operating Engineer for 50 years and then worked as a Realtor for S & W Realty until his retirement.  He was the President of the Pioneer Cemetery Board in La Porte County, a member of the Masonic Lodge #222 in Kingsbury and a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Union Mills.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 am (CST) on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Interment will take place at a later date.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 -8 pm (CST) on Thursday, November 8, 2018 and from 9 am (CST) until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
