Robert Martin Barr, 86, of LaPorte, Indiana died November 18, 2008 at his home. He was born July 19, 1922 in Rolling Prairie, IN to the late Harold C. and Vera (Martin) Barr. On October 28, 1951 he married Carolyn Jane Whitcomb who survives.
He is survived by his four sons: Harold L. (Susan), Martin (Marsha), Ralph (Dianne), and Randy Barr all of LaPorte. 6 grandchildren: Tonya Barr of Washington, DC and Evan, Erin, Jane, Bennett, and Kelly Barr all of LaPorte. 1 great-grandson: Breyon Wilson. 1 sister: Mary Pavey of Rising Sun, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Stillwell High School in 1940. He was a member of La Porte Presbyterian Church, 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #222 of Kingsbury, and the Westville Lions Club. He loved farming, traveling, dancing, his garden, and German Polka music.
There will be a Celebration Of Life Service at 10:00A.M. Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Kaaren Nesmith officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 4-8:00 P.M. Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Funeral Home and from 9:00A.M. until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
