Robert "Bob" D. Decker, 67, of La Porte, IN, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
Robert was born in La Porte, IN, on September 10, 1947 to J. Cecil and Gertrude Decker.
On September 5, 1978, he married Joanne who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Erin (Ryan) Gerard of St. Joseph, MI; his son, John Decker of Chicago, IL; and grandson, Oliver Gerard.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob graduated from La Porte High School and was a graduate of Indiana State University. He was a combat veteran, having honorably served in the United States Army Infantry in the Republic of Vietnam. Bob had a zest for military history and the outdoors.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, IN.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for this spring at Deer Creek Hunt Club in Three Oaks, MI.
