Robert Huston

Robert William Huston, age 87, of La Porte, IN passed away on May 23, 2014 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Hamilton, OH, on June 29, 1926 to Richard and Iva (Wright) Huston.

On December 24, 1949, he married Alicia Marie Huston who survives. Also surviving are their beloved children, Alice (Floyd) Pullins of Benton Harbor, MI, Susan Young of Coloma, MI, Robert Huston Jr. of La Porte, IN, Frank Huston of Colton, CA and Richard (Tammy) Huston of Cour De Alene, ID; seventeen grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Royetta Whitlock; a grandson, Mark Pullins; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Young.

He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Pennsylvania. Shortly after being discharged from the Navy he reenlisted in the United States Army and served during Korea and until his retirement as a decorated Sergeant in 1965. He later went to work for Watervliet Paper Mill for many years and eventually retired from Champion Paper in Colton, CA.

A patriotic cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4PM on Saturday May 31, 2014 at the funeral home. Pastor Kevin Brintnall will officiate and military honors will be conducted by the La Porte Honor Guard.

Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service.
