Robert E. Kaser, 70, of Michigan City, Indiana, died at 1:48 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2004 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 10, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. William Fine officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until the time of services.

Bob was born May 20, 1934, in Michigan City to Oliver & Marion (Krentz) Kaser. On November 25, 1961, in Michigan City, he married Lynne Dingman, who survives.

Also surviving are daughters Tammy Kaser of Indianapolis, IN and Tara (Rick) Foley of Noblesville, IN; sons Mark Kaser of Indianapolis, IN and Christopher Kaser of Michigan City; and grandchildren, Jalynne, Kendra and Eric Foley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James and a half-sister, Barbara Porchrux.

Bob had worked for the News Dispatch as City Editor and as a columnist, writing ?Bob?s Beat?. He was most currently a copy editor at the Post Tribune. He had won many awards in his newspaper career.

He had served on the Michigan City Police Commission, where he had helped establish the Merit System. He had been actively involved in the Michigan City Bicentennial Celebration and had helped organize a Band Uniform Drive for the Michigan City Elston and Rodgers High Schools. He had served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany for 2 years.

Memorials may be made to the Friendship Gardens of Michigan City.
