Robert Lydick, 78, of Walkerton, Indiana, died at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. John Vincent officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Rolling Prairie Cemetery where American Legion Post #400 will conduct full military honors.
Robert was born August 20, 1928, in Terre Haute, Indiana to James Robert and Viola (Davis) Lydick. On April 13, 1953, in Lydick, Indiana, he married Genevieve Smith who preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter Deborah (Gary) Davidson of Springfield, MO; son Donald R. (Janice) Williamson of Fish Lake, IN; grandchildren Tegan Stephans, Jamin & Christopher Green, Adrienne Binversie, and Chaylon, Chad, Joshua & Ryan Williamson; and 5 great-grandchildren.
His parents and a son, Larry Phillips, preceded him in death.
Robert had retired in 1988 with 29½ years of service as a supervisor at Berkel Co., Inc. He was a LaPorte High School graduate. He was also a U.S. Army Corps Veteran of WW II and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the LaPorte Moose Lodge #492, the Polish Roman Catholic Union and the American Legion 40/8. He also was commander of American Legion Post #400 of Fish Lake.
