Robert V. Ott, 84 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011 at LaPorte Hospital.

He was born on September 7, 1927 in La Porte, IN. Son of the late Victor and Virginia (Klonoski) Ott.

Robert was married on November 12, 1955 in Chesterton, IN to Judith J. Koritz who survives. Also surviving are his children: Kim (Mark) Giesler, Linda (Dr.Dennis) Miller, Kurt (Jodi) Ott, Kellie( Dr.Eric) Stulc; Grandchildren: Daniel Miller, Craig Miller, Stephanie & Jeremy Ruff, Jeri-Lyn & Brian Favia, Jonathan & Carrie Koehn,Nichole & Tyler Ott, Jodie & Ross Signorino, Amanda Giesler, Andrew & Kelsey Giesler; Great grandchildren: Izzy Ruff, Devyn, Madelyn & Xander Favia, Jaydon & Jarred Koehn, Olivia, Emily & Jaxon Signorino, Gavin Steinhaus, Brothers; Richard (Charlotte) Ott; Delayne (Phylis) Ott, Al (Karlene) Ott, sister: Judy & Richard Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Victor & Virginia Ott; brother; LeRoy (Anne) Ott and sister: Rosalie (Ron) Smith.

He founded Ott Realty. He worked as a Real Estate Broker & Appraiser from 1951-2010. During the 59 years he served as, President of the LaPorte Board of Realtors District 2, a Indiana Certified General Appraiser, Member of the Appraisal Institute 1964-2010, National Vice President of the Appraisal Institute from 1984-1986 covering IN, MI, OH, KY, Ill, Wis, and Ontario Canada, Past President of the St. Joseph Valley Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in 1965, Former Member of The Educational Staff of the Graduate of Realtors Institute (GRI), Instructor of Real Estate Salesmen's Course at Indiana University from 1969 - 1995, Member of Panel at Tri State Appraisal Convention at Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lectured Members of Appraisal Panels at 5 State Realtors Conventions, Lectured on Appraisal Panel for Writing Demonstration Appraisal Reports, Member of 13 National Committees, Qualified as Expert Witness in State and Federal Courts. He also served for 29 years as Director for the First Federal Savings & Loan. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church

Robert Ott has provided appraisals for notable projects such as in the construction of State Road 2, I-94 and US 30 and in land acquisition by the Indiana Dunes National Park. He and his wife Judy operated Ott Real Estate and Appraisal Agency in LaPorte. In 2006 the National Assoc. of Realtors awarded him Realtor Emeritus at the national convention.

There will be a Private Family Memorial Service at the Pine Lake Cemetery at a later time with Rev. David Kime officiating with burial to follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cutler Funeral Home
