Robert Steigely, 75, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2006 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A Moose Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
Robert was born December 16, 1930 in LaPorte to Frederick W. & Ruth (Scharf) Steigely. On December 30, 1950, he married Faye Ruth Grassmyer who survives.
Survivors include daughters Vicki (Gary) Travis, Laurie (Jeff) Parsons, Julie (Dave) Kampf and Joyce (Art) Christenson, all of LaPorte; sons Guy Steigely of Chicago, IL and Russell W. Steigely of Middletown, NY; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters; sisters Phyllis (Jack) Miller and Pam Lang, both of LaPorte; and brother Norman (Barbra) Steigely of Kewanna, IN.
His parents, son Mark T. Steigely, twin grandchildren Megan & Adam, brother Fred Steigely and sisters Patty & Barbra Ann preceded him in death.
Robert had worked as a foreman at Berkel for 24 years. He was a 40 year member of Moose Lodge #492, serving as past governor and he was a member of the American Legion Lancers Drum & Bugle Corp. He was also a veteran of the Korean War.
