Bob Travis, 74, of Michigan City, Indiana, died at 7:28 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2005 at his home.
A private family service will be held on Friday, December 23, at Countryside Christian Church with Rev. Rick Jones officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Cutler Funeral Home.
Bob was born July 5, 1931, in Monongahela, PA, the fourth child of Ivy and Hannah (Long) Travis. On August 14, 1950, at the First Baptist Church in Monongahela, he married Elvera Mae Degidio, who survives.
Survivors also include daughter Jean marie (Dennis) Guzman of Michigan City; son Robert Daniel Travis, Jr. of Agusta, WI; five loving grandchildren, Darcy, Jennifer, Sharon, Hilary and Dennis "C.T"; three great-grandsons; and six great-granddaughters, who are all a great joy.
Bob was retired from Midwest Steel. He had also worked for U.S. Steel in Pennsylvania. He had driven a mail truck between Indiana and Michigan and had worked at the Indiana State Prison prior to his employment at Midwest Steel.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Michigan City. He enjoyed golf and was very much a family man. During his illness he kept telling his family and caregivers how much he loved them. He did get grumpy due to a long illness of 15 years. Still, "I love you" became the words he used most.
