Robert Wegiel, 52, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016 at his home.
Robert was born in La Porte, IN, on December 16, 1963 and raised by Lucinda Carleen Hollifield.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn (Putz) Wegiel; daughter, Heather (Wegiel) Winslett of La Porte; stepdaughters, Heather Putz, Samantha (Jason) Keehn, and Hannah Morrow, all of La Porte; 9 step grandchildren, Keith, Jordyn, Jaycob and Jynger Keehn, Donavan Malstaff, and NaDean, NaDlynn, Robert Jr., and Hunter Aubin. His sister, Dot (Dan) Fara, and brother, Mark (Karen) Martin.
He was preceded in death by Lucinda Carleen Hollifield, and three brothers, Dusty and Tim Goens and Scott Dopieralski.
Robert was a painter for A & A Securall. He was an accomplished drummer, and enjoyed his dobsonian telescope, watching scary movies on Son of Svengoolie and drag racers John Force, Don Prudhomme "Snake" and Tom McEwen "Mongoose".
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at La Porte Missionary Church with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating. Interment will take place at Beech Creek Cemetery in Hazard, KY at a later date.
A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 - 6:00 pm on Thursday at the La Porte Missionary Church, 104 E. 18th Street, La Porte, IN 46350.
