Robert "Bob" Elvis Wheaton, age 57, of La Porte, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Robert was born on March 19, 1958 in La Porte, Indiana. On October 23, 1976, he married Lorena Marie Wilhelm; she survives.
Also surviving are three children, Tamara (Adam) Lemley, Michael R. (Melissa) Wheaton, and Nicole (Richard) Kaehler all of LaPorte, IN; seven grandchildren, Deziray, Brice, Noah, Airron, Makailyn, little Richard, and Robert; mother, Janice Irene Morris of LaPorte, IN; and siblings, Lisa Wheaton of La Porte and Ronald (Christine) Wheaton of Union Mills, IN. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Morris in 2013.
Bob worked as an Engineering Manager at IPW for the last ten years. Before that time, he worked for over 25 years at Berkel Incorporated in LaPorte, IN. He loved church, bowling, and spending time with his family. Bob was very "special" and will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and tenacious work ethic.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Bob's honor on Friday January 8, 2016, at 5 PM at La Porte Assembly of God. Pastor Doug Hawkins, Barry Brown, and Roger Coleman will officiate.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday January 7, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 4 PM until the time of service on Friday at the church.
