Robert White

October 15, 1927 — December 25, 2015

Robert O. White, 88, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 25, 2015 after one final Christmas with his family.

Robert was born Oct. 15, 1927, in La Porte, to the late Robert I. and Helen (Sisk) White.

On April 26, 1947, he married Norma Hall. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2015. Surviving are his beloved children, Michael White of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Barbara (Joe Jr.) Kuharic of South Bend; grandchildren Andrea (Noel) Rahme of Durban, South Africa, Stacey (Josh Sr.) Cline of Granger, Joe Kuharic III of South Bend, Kim (Joel) Lear of Michigan City, Kelley Kasprzyk of La Porte and Mollie White of Beavercreek; great-grandchildren Josh Jr., Alexis, Mariah, Macie and Kaila: nephew Judge Kim (Susan) Hall of Knox; niece Jane (Terry) Larson of Valparaiso; brother Richard (Joann) White of LaGrange; half brother Butch (Sandy) Phillips of Yelm, Wash.; sister-in-law Doris Hall of Valparaiso; son-in-law Bob Pinda of La Porte; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Pinda.

Robert was a machinist and a supervisor for Phillips Drill in Michigan City. He was the developer and builder of Turnbow Subdivisions near Rockville. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Robert was a member of Tracy United Methodist Church and a former member of the American Legion. He enjoyed working with wood and metal.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the 4 p.m. (CST) Sunday, Jan. 3, celebration of life memorial service at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in La Porte. Pastor Dorothy Jones will officiate. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, in Kingsbury Cemetery, with military honors. A cremation committal has taken place.
