Roger Poorman Hearn, 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Fountainview Terrace, La Porte.
Roger was born on July 18, 1937 in Huntingdon, PA, to Lois (Poorman) Emery.
On June 15, 1971, he married Lois Lagenour, who survives. In addition to joining in marriage with Lois, on that special day Roger accepted Lois' nine children into his family.
Surviving Roger are his wife, Lois; children, Angie (Mike Kingery) Rippe of Chesterton, Anita Elkins of PA, Sheri (Tom) Gilbert of Michigan City, Norman (Beth) Self of Chesterton, Charles W. Self of La Porte, and Michelle (Todd) Welton of Union Mills; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 6 great, great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Rhodes; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; daughter, Althea Long; 2 sons, Anthony Self and Alan Lee Self; and siblings, Gail Truxel, Bruce Emory, Emma Hearn, and Kay Hearn.
Roger was an over-the-road truck driver for 42 years. He enjoyed motorcycles and playing cards. Roger also enjoyed being outdoors, particularly working in his yard. More than anything, Roger enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
