Ronald Eugene Rowland, 70 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Fountainview Terrace.
He was born on October 26, 1941 in Valparaiso, IN, son of the late William and Georgia (Jones) Rowland.
He was married in Kingsford Heights, IN on December 15, 1963 to Mary Zollinger who survives
Also surviving are his brothers & sisters: Raymond (Boots) Rowland of Westville, IN., Judy (John) Aguleria of East Chicago, IN., Sandy Biggs of Florida, Rita (Mike) Stephens, Robert Rowland, Douglas Rowland, Donald Rowland all of Valparaiso, IN; many nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Richard Slagle and his in-laws: William & Catherine Zollinger .
Ronald retired from his job as a custodian at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso High School and also as a Kingsford Union Volunteer Fire Fighter. He was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed the Chicago Bears, helping folks in any way possible by just a simple visit, getting their mail, and just befriending them. He was a huge inspiration to those at Fountainview Terrace. He played Santa Clause for over 40 years for his friends and the children at Kingsford Heights Elementary School.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Jason Safirt officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 2 PM until the time of service on Sunday.
