Ronald "Ron" L. Kubit

Ronald "Ron" L. Kubit, 83, of La Porte, passed away on March 13, 2019 at VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.

Ron was born on July 22, 1935 in La Porte, IN, to Chester and Ann (Supanik) Kubit.

On September 3, 1960 in La Porte, IN, he married Margaret Haldiman who survives.  Also surviving are his beloved children, Coleen Kubit of Indianapolis, Kelly Kubit of Las Vegas, NV, and Patrick (Robin) Kubit of La Porte; 4 grandchildren, Blaine Kubit, Austin (Gretchen) Kubit, Taylor (Greg) Toliver, and Kasey Kubit; great-granddaughter, Rowan Kubit; and brother, Chet Kubit of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron served in the US Coast Guard from 1953-1957.  He started his career as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Warren Central in Indianapolis and then at La Porte High School. Ron later moved to La Porte and became an Applications Engineer with several information systems companies including Atex, Star Graphics and DISC.  He finished his career as a Systems Technician at The La Porte Herald-Argus.  Ron was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Father Sorin Assembly, and Ball State Alumni Association.  Ron loved to do Suduko, play golf, listen to his extensive music collection, and was an avid Cubs fan.  He enjoyed traveling and was proud to have visited all 50 states.  Ron especially enjoyed his every other Tuesday night poker game.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM (CT) on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Ian Williams officiating.  Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be from 4 - 7 PM (CT) on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  A Rosary Service will be held at 4 PM (CT) on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959.
