Ruth Gagle, 85, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 11:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at LaPorte Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James Jones officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery in Randolph Co., Indiana on July 4, 2006.
Ruth was born May 19, 1921 to the late Lee M. and Mary Ethel (Murphy) Burk. On November 28, 1949, in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, she married her dearly beloved husband Robert Gagle who survives.
Also surviving are her children who she loved, daughters Katryna Jeffrey and Stacy (Ruth West) Gagle, both of LaPorte; sons Michael (Linda) Gagle of Bass Lake, IN, Reid (Genene McNabb) Gagle of St. Paul, MN, and Burk (Jane) Gagle of Burbank, CA; grandchildren Ivy (Ray Combs) Jeffrey, Andy & Sarah Gagle and Alex Jeffrey; great-grandchildren Donovan, Brenna, Morgan and Evan Combs; and sister Ann Gayle of Anacortes, WA.
Brothers Robert and Joe Burk preceded her in death.
Ruth was a registered nurse. She served in the US Army Nurse Corps in the Philippines during WWII. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was a choir member and choir mother for many years.
She enjoyed camping, white water rafting, square dancing, reading mysteries and playing games. She also loved wintering at Val Vista Winter Village Resort in Casa Grande, Arizona.
