Ruth A. VanHook, age 70, of La Porte, passed away on May 20, 2014 at Settlers House.
She was born in La Porte, on February 4, 1944 to Jess and Phyllis (Greening) Sandy.
On January 5, 1963 in La Porte she married William James VanHook IV who preceded her in death on July 11, 2006. Surviving are her beloved children, three Sons, Brent (Elizabeth) VanHook of La Porte, William (Tammy) VanHook of Rolling Prairie, Jonathon VanHook of Michigan; grandchildren, William M. VanHook, Nicholas A. VanHook, Kyle VanHook, GraceVanHook, and Matthew VanHook; sister, Paula (Craig) Waltman of La Porte; and brother, Jess (Carol) Sandy of Walkerton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William VanHook; and her sister, Kathy Sandy.
Ruth worked at Scott Foresman. She enjoyed volunteering for her church, walking her dog, crocheting, and she loved flowers and animals.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Jeff Zigler officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
