Samuel "Sam" Phillip Tibbs, age 75, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his home.
Samuel was born in La Porte, IN, on December 2, 1938 to Harley and Laura (Lumley) Tibbs.
In 1958 in Sullivan, IN he married Donna M. (Dyer) Tibbs who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Donald (Julia) Tibbs of La Porte, Laura (George) Korepanow of La Porte, Robin Churchill of La Porte, Brian Tibbs of La Porte; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Jeanie Wiltfong of La Porte, Joann Brown of La Porte, many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings; great grandson, Stephen Michael Suthard "Stevie"
Sam enjoyed bargain hunting, flea markets, yard sales, and collecting all kinds of odds and ends. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He loved horseback riding and bonfires. Above all else he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Bruce Elkins officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
