Samuel Clark Trigg of La Porte, Indiana passed away peacefully on February 6, 2012 at the age of 88, following a brief illness, at his winter home in Jupiter, Florida. Mrs. RoseMary Trigg, his wife of over 67 years, and their four children were at his side throughout his illness and at the time of his passing.
Mr. Trigg was born on February 22, 1923 to Joseph and Goldie Trigg. He enlisted in the military in December 1941 and rose to the rank of Second Lieutenant Flight Officer with the 20th United States Air Corp assigned to B-17 and B-29 aircraft. While in the service, he met RoseMary Solomon who he later married in Chandler, Arizona in 1944. He was honorably discharged in in 1945. Following his discharge, Mr. Trigg moved to Flint, Michigan and was employed for 9 years as an executive with the Buick Motor Division of the General Motors Corporation. He moved to La Porte in 1954 to become President and owner of Trigg Buick-Pontiac until his retirement 26 years later. During that time, Mr. Trigg was also President of the La Porte Auto Dealers Association as well as Vice-President and charter member of the La Porte County EMS. Mr. Trigg was appreciated for his intelligence and critical thinking, sense of humor, generosity of spirit, and love of family.
Samuel C. Trigg is survived by his wife RoseMary Trigg and his immediate family: Marianne Trigg of Jupiter, Fl; Dr. Duncan S. Trigg of Phoeniz, AZ; Dr. Douglas J. Trigg and wife Victoria Trigg of Sammamish, WA; and Donald C. Trigg and wife Carol Trigg of Santa Fe, NM. In addition he has 5 grandchildren: Benjamin, Simon and Ann Trigg and Alex and Lauren Paramithiotti. He was close to his grandchildren and lived to see all of them graduate from college and begin their lives successfully as young adults.
Internment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC.
A "Celebration of a Life Well Lived" will be held in La Porte later this year.
Mr Trigg will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him well.In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the charity of choice is preferred. Condolonces may be shared with the family at www.cutlerfuneral.com
