Sandra Lea Underwood, age 56, of Michigan City, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 13, 2015 at home. Sandra was born in Michigan City, IN, on July 6, 1958 to Eugene R. and Juanita A. (Welch) Chambers, Sr. On April 10, 1999, she married Richie T. Underwood; he preceded her in death on January 1, 2013.
She is survived by her beloved family, daughter, Lynn A. (Chris McDonald) Chambers of Michigan City, IN; a grandson, Zachery (Felicia) Chambers of Michigan City, IN; two great-granddaughters, Kylie and Brooklin, both at home; a great-grandson, Zachery Jr. on the way; three brothers, Eugene (Pat) Chambers Jr. and Roger (Kathy) Chambers, both of Michigan City, IN and Thomas (Jan) Chambers of La Porte, IN; two special sisters, Carol R. Barger of La Porte, IN and Shaun (Tony) Hale of Michigan City, IN; many nieces and nephews; and her dogs Rikki and Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Ronald L. Chambers; her great-grandparents; and three dogs.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at both the American Legion Post 83 and the VFW Post 1130, and a member of the Falcons Nest 564, all in La Porte, IN. She was also a life member of the DAV Post 23 in Michigan City, IN. She loved to play pool and was quite good at it. She also enjoyed camping, dancing, riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles and above all, spending time with her family. Sandra loved to have a good time and make everyone else laugh in the process. She will always be loved, deeply missed, and remembered well by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM at Cutler Funeral Home And Cremation Center on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Pastor Dennis Pickens will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Cemetery in Michigan City, IN.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 and from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
