Sanford "Sandy" Augustus Kurth, Jr.

Sanford "Sandy" Augustus Kurth, Jr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Brickyard Healthcare- Terrace Care Center.

Sandy was born on October 21, 1935 in Buffalo, NY, to Sanford and Beatrice (Comeau) Kurth, Sr.

On June 18, 1955, he married Phyllis Byerly who preceded him in death on November 14, 2016.  Surviving Sandy are his children, Suzanne "Sue" Allen of Union Mills, Deborah Green of Michigan City, Sanford "Sandy" (Roberta) Kurth III of Glencoe, OK, and Jeffery "Jeff" (Jennifer) Kurth of La Porte; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 9 great, great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Joyner of Sumter, South Carolina; 2 nieces, Cheryl Ward of New Fane, NY and Mary Ellen Petterson of Sumter, South Carolina; nephew, Robert Ackley of Sumter, South Carolina; as well as several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.

Sandy was a dispatcher for 31 years at Bethlehem Steel.  He was a 55 year member of The Freemasons.  Sandy enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing chess, and reading. In his younger years, he greatly enjoyed roller skating.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
