Sarah "Sally" Baker, 76, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, at Door Village United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Door Village Cemetery.
Sally was born April 19, 1929, in Rensselaer, Indiana to William & Hortense L. (Winks) Jordan. On September 7, 1952, in Wheeler, IN, she married Kenneth Baker, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Karen (Jim) Deutsch of Marshall, MO, Linda (Gordie) Heinold of Lexington, KY and Donna (Shane) Yoder of Mishawaka, IN; sons Keith (Laurel) Baker and Terry (Cynthia) Baker, both of LaPorte; sister Margaret (Russell) Brower of Hagerstown, IN; and grandchildren Jeffery, Kimberly, Loren, Anna, Samuel, Jacob, Timothy, Seth, Ryan, Jill, Jessica & Johnathan.
Her parents, five brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Sally was a nurse at LaPorte Hospital, retiring in 1991. She was a 1947 graduate of Wheatfield High School and a graduate of Lafayette Home Hospital School of Nursing in 1950.
She was an active member of the Door Village United Methodist Church. She was also an active member in the Door Village Lions Club and the LaPorte County Historical Society. She was secretary of the LaPorte County Pioneer Cemetery Commission. She and her husband belonged to the Indiana Covered Bridge Society, the Indiana Canal Society and the Society for Preservation of Old Mills. She was a past member of the LaPorte Chapter of DAR, the LaPorte Hospital Retirees and the LaPorte Chapter of People to People.
