Sheila Anne (Brannon) Pinda

March 20, 1954 — May 26, 2019

Sheila Anne (Brannon) Pinda, 65, of South Bend, passed away, after a brief illness, on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.

Sheila was born on March 20, 1954 in Eupora, MS, to Joseph Wiley Brannon, Jr. and Sarah Kathleen (Grammar) Brannon.

On September 20, 2002 in Michigan City, IN she married John Pinda who survives.  Also surviving are her 3 beloved children, David (Maggie) Willis of Columbus, OH, Stephen (Sara) Willis of Richman Hills, GA, and Sarah (Brent) Barron of Tampa, FL; stepdaughter, Rebecca Kegebein of La Porte; 5 siblings, Carol (Glenn) Adams of Escondido, CA, Joseph Martin Brannon of Los Angeles, CA, Kim Lacy (Joseph) Stemn, Anthony Haik Brannon of South Bend, and Sarah Jane Brannon of Buchanan, MI; 8 grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents; sister, Bettye Francis (Brannon) Hensley; 2 brothers, Joseph Wiley Brannon, III, and an infant brother.

Sheila was a teacher, librarian, and author.  She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and sewing.  Her sewing skills were such that she was able to make some of her own clothing.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sheila loved her family unconditionally. She had fond memories of Countryside Christian Church, where she met her husband.  Sheila had a vast knowledge and love of movies and books, having accumulated a large aggregation of both. She had an extensive collection of family photos, which were painstakingly organized. Sheila also had many vintage records that could be counted among her collectibles. Her loyal little dog was given the name "Lucy" after a character from the movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Witch, the Lion, and The Wardrobe”.  She enjoyed cooking and was an expert on herbs and nutrition; growing some of her own herbs. Sheila wrote about her life experiences in her book entitled, “Never An Upstaged Life” and maintained a website where she continued to post about her life. She was last employed at Meridian Health of Mishawaka.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Rick Jones officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 8 pm  on Thursday, June 6, 2019 and from 10 am until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o John Pinda, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte, IN 46350 or to the donor's choice.
