Sherrie Lynn Jones

August 19, 1954 — April 14, 2025

Sherrie Lynn Jones, 70, of La Porte, IN, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Sherrie was born on August 19, 1954, in La Porte, IN, to Harold and Shirley (Handtke) Bachman.

On June 27, 2014, at Beechwood Golf Course in La Porte, she married Timothy Jones, who survives. Also surviving are her beloved children, Michael (Abby) Johnson of La Porte, Trevor (Emily) Hammons of La Porte, Wynn (Katie) Jones of Indianapolis, Tain (Kevin) Jones of Cleveland, OH, and Brye Jones of Michigan City; cherished grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Kyley Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Cayden Jones, Piper Jones, Harper Conner, and Jensen Jones; loving sisters, Stephanie (Ben) Ameling and Sally (Fred) Bergman, both of La Porte; nieces and nephews, Karissa Ameling, Tasha (Jason) Walters, Craig Ameling, Philip J. Paxson, Mason (Paige) Paxson, and Robert (Katie) Bachman, Jr.; great-nieces, Katie Walters, Mallory Paxson, and Leila Grimes; great-nephew, Kaden Walters; and her dear friend and "sister," Lisa (David) Braid.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Bachman Sr.

Sherrie was a gifted beautician for 50 years, most recently at First Impressions. She had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, valued, and beautiful-both inside and out. Her deep love for others shone through in everything she did, from her work to her everyday life.

Sherrie was an avid golfer who found joy in every course she played. She also bowled faithfully from Monday through Thursday at both Casey's and T-Birds, forming friendships that became like family. More than just a sport, bowling was a ministry of sorts for Sherrie-she shared her love of the game with the next generation by coaching youth bowling leagues and supporting South Central's bowling program. She believed in lifting others up and giving back, always finding ways to serve her community, especially her eight years with the City Council, with compassion and joy.

Her life was a reflection of this truth: "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." - Mahatma Gandhi.

Sherrie will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her dedication to others, and the unwavering love she had for her family and friends. She had a heart big enough to make everyone feel like family and a smile that could brighten any room.
