Shirley Grenda, 79, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 10:17 a.m. EST, Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Shirley was born February 19, 1927 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Herbert & Emma (Sauerland) Santow. On August 29, 1948, in Michigan City, she married Richard C. "Bud" Grenda who preceded her in death February 27, 2006.
Survivors included daughter Pamela (Steve) Burleson of Carmel, IN; son Bruce (Jeannie) Grenda of Barrington Hills, IL; grandchildren Stephanie White, Melissa Grenda, and Brent & Ashley Burleson; great-grandchildren Hannah Grace White and Caden Hill.
A brother, Arthur Santow, a sister, Marian Ackil and a grandson, Blake Burleson preceded her in death.
Shirley was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a former member of Tri Kappa Sorority, the Beechwood Women's 18 Hole Golf Association and the South Bend Country Club Women's 18 Hole Golf Association.
