Shirley Lux, 88, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24. She died at LaPorte Hospital following a short stay.
Those who were touched by Shirley are invited to attend a celebration of her life at the LaPorte Post of the VFW at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2006. The celebration will be officiated by the VFW Auxiliary. A private family burial will take place at Patton Cemetery.
Shirley was born October 3, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois to the late George & Anna (Sack) Potter. On August 5, 1942, in Chicago, she married George W. Lux, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Nancy Satterlee of Valparaiso, IN and Andrea (Michael) Simmons of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren Misty, Amelia, Russell, Keith, Adam, Drew & Miles; two great-grandsons; sisters Doris Kottman and Patricia Giocomelli; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A son, George I. Lux, a granddaughter, Nicole Lux, two sisters and eight brothers preceded her in death.
Shirley lived in LaPorte most of her adult life. She was an active member of the LaPorte VFW Post #1130. She attended the LaPorte First Baptist Church. She managed the cafeteria at St. John's Lutheran School for many years. She also was a talented seamstress.
She was a bright, lively, fun-loving woman, and a friend to everyone she met. She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother. Her spirit and kindness will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
