Sonja C. Pytynia, 75, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Franciscan Communities in Michigan City.
Sonja was born in Holcomb, MO, on August 9, 1941 to Charles and Alma (Brickell) Cooper.
She is survived by her beloved children, Judy Hough of La Porte, Thomas Samm, Jr. of Michigan City, Brenda (Barry) Samm of Russell Springs, KY, and Beth (James) Affeld of La Porte; grandchildren, Kristin (Jimmy) Walt of La Porte, Kimberly (Mike) Fairfield of La Porte, Brandon Gurrola of La Porte, and Lukas Albin of La Porte; siblings, Karen (Dan) Buss of La Porte, Robert (Barb) Cooper of La Porte, Wendell (Norma) Cooper of La Porte, and Lindall (Sharon) Cooper of AR; great-grandchildren, Audriana, Gabriella, Michael, Karter, Melody, Kaylee and Abbie; stepchildren, Sally (Greg) Warner of La Porte and Eddie Pytynia, III of La Porte; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sonja was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Caitlin.
Sonja was a restaurant hostess and a long time cancer survivor. She was a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Rolling Prairie. Sonja especially enjoyed time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at .a later time.
