Sophia J. Cissne, 95, LaPorte, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday (June 29, 2003) at Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth, Ind.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. David Gibbs officiating. Burial is in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cissne was born Jan. 2, 1908, in Chicago to Joseph and Mary (Sobczak) Jendrzejak. On Sept. 16, 1931, in LaPorte, she married Edgar Cissne. He died Dec. 4, 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol (Tommy) Taylor, LaPorte; two grandchildren, Susan Taylor, LaPorte, and Michael (Colleen) Taylor, Lafayette, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, Kaela, Joseph and Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Josephine Silko, Sheila Teets and Stella Jendrzejak, and a brother, John Andrews, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cissne worked at H.H. Kessler and also owned Cissne's Venetian Blind and Shades with her husband. She was a member of LaPorte Presbyterian Church, a past member of LaPorte Business Girls Association, an associate member of LaPorte Hospital Auxiliary and a past PTA member.
Memorials may be made to Children's Carillon of the Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
