Stephen James Boardman, 69, of LaPorte, died Sunday morning, Sept. 25, 2016, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, following a brief illness.
A native of LaPorte, he was born June 13, 1947, in LaPorte to Bill and Jean (Bowman) Boardman and lived in LaPorte for all of his life.
Steve was a Real Estate Investor/Realtor. He was a 1966 graduate of LaPorte High School and attended Purdue University. Steve was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Hamon Gray Post 83 in LaPorte, and the LP County Realtors Association. He volunteered to help fellow veterans and was also a LaPorte Salvation Army volunteer.
Steve loved to tend to his lakeside property on his Allis-Chalmers tractor and enjoyed hunting for antique treasures. Most of all he cherished his beloved wife and two daughters. His charm, warm smile, readiness to help anyone and gentlemanly nature will be missed by all.
On June 20, 1970 in Ormond Beach, Florida, he married the love of his life, Linda Moulder, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved daughters, Michelle Boardman, married to Jason Cogswell, both of LaPorte, and Brittany Boardman of Chicago; three brothers, Mike (Janet) and Chris (Cindi) of LaPorte and Tony of Florida; sister, Beth of LaPorte; sisters-in-law, Melanie (Doug) Kerns of Florida and Mary Matrice Moulder (Jim) Bump of Arizona; and brother-in-law, John (Eve) Moulder of Florida. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jean and Bill Boardman, and parents-in-law, Annette and George Moulder.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Sunday, Oct. 2, at 3 p.m. A time of visitation will take place prior to the service from 1 - 3 p.m.
