Stephen D. Hand

Stephen D. Hand, 83, of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023at Community Hospital-Munster

Stephen was born in Hutsonville IL, on July 10, 1940 to Robert C. Hand and Doris J.(Couch) Elkins.

He proudly served in the United States Army.

Stephen met his beloved wife, Beverly Corey, at the local roller skating rink, where he often impressed others with his skating skills.  On December 5, 1970 in Tracy, IN, he and Beverly were united in marriage.  Surviving Stephen are his wife; daughter, Amy (Mark) Povlock of La Porte; daughter-in-law, Alliegra Hand of La Porte; grandchildren, Shania Povlock, Luke Povlock, and David Hand, all of La Porte; great-grandson, Bryson Povlock; sister, Susan Anderson; and a multitude of other beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Wesley Hand; granddaughter, Makenna; grandparents; brothers; and other cherished family.

Stephen worked many years delivering for Kabelin Ace Hardware and PNC. He was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God and the American Legion Post 434.

He was a fifth degree black belt and previously owned Hand's TaeKwondo.   Stephen also spent many years as a Kingsford Hts. Special Deputy and volunteer firefighter.  Above all, Stephen loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, who he cherished and had pride in.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Lighthouse Assembly of God, 505 Park Rd., Kingsford Hts., IN with Rev. Douglas Hawkins officiating.  Inurnment at Tracy Cemetery will follow the service.

A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.
