Stephen Anthony Nicholson, 85, of La Porte, Indiana passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at home.

He was born in La Porte, Indiana, on April 26, 1931 to Emilius H. and Zita (Meister) Nicholson.

On December 29, 1956 at St. John Kanty Church in Rolling Prairie, Indiana he married Julianne Y. Nicholson; she preceded him in death on September 22, 2012.

He is survived by his children, Emily (Richard) Alexander, Jane (Randy) Dorman of La Porte, Indiana, and David (Christine Voyvodich) of Monrovia, CA; and a grandson, Nicholas Alexander.

Stephen graduated from La Porte High School in 1949 and then earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Later, he returned to Indiana University to earn an MBA. Stephen retired as a sales manager from American Can in Chicago after working for several decades in the sales and printing industry. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and was a devoted Chicago sports fan. He rooted faithfully for the Black Hawks and most importantly the Cubs. Stephen cheered for the Cubs in person at Wrigley Field the last time they played in the World Series in 1945. This time he will be cheering from above.

A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 PM at Cutler Funeral Home And Cremation Center on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Rev. Ransom Ebersole will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 4-6 PM prior to the service.
