Susan Kay Taylor, 49 years old of La Porte, Indiana, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 in Lafayette, Indiana at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital while visiting her brother and family in Lafayette for Christmas.
She was born May 10, 1962 in LaPorte, daughter of Tom E. and Carol (Cissne) Taylor of La Porte.
Susan graduated from LPHS in 1980, Ball State University with a BS in 1984 and from Notre Dame with a MS in 1988.
She was a member of La Porte Presbyterian Church, IU LaPorte Hosital Auxiliary & Foundation, Amber Hearts Club, AAUW, and a former Longaberger consultant. Susan enjoyed collecting Longaberger Baskets, cross-stitching, dolls, bears, and dogs. She also enjoyed helping others and volunteering.
Susan received a kidney/pancreas transplant January 17, 1995 along with a dear friend Angela "Ange" Kraetch who preceded her in death.
Surviving are her parents: Tom & Carol Taylor; a brother: Michael R. (Colleen) Taylor of Lafayette, Indiana; 2 nephews and one niece; Joe, Thomas, and Kaela Taylor, all of Lafayette, Indiana. Also surviving are 3 aunts and uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Edgar and Sophia Cissne of LaPorte and Harold and Kathryn Taylor of Lebanon, Indiana .
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, December 30, 2011at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
There will be a time of visitation with the family on Thursday from 1-5 P.M. and on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
Interment will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: LaPorte Small Animal Shelter, LaPorte Hospital Foundation, Presbyterian Church, and doing a good deed for someone or someone in need.
