Susie Ales, 93, of Bridgman, Michigan and formerly of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 1:50 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the Jordans Nursing Home in Bridgman.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. CST on Monday, June 13, at the LaPorte 1st United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home and at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery.
Susie was born December 1, 1911, in Union Mills, Indiana to Burton O. and Estella May (Bradley) Porter. On November 9, 1928, she married Andrew Ales, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are grandchildren Lawrence Ales of LaPorte, Laura Taylor of Davenport, IA, Leah Ditto of Bridgman, Lee Ales of Buckley Air Force Base, CO, Lloyd Allen Ales and Linda Anderson, both of Bridgman, and 7 great-grandchildren.
A son, Richard Ales and 5 siblings preceded her in death.
Susie had retired after 35 years from Woolworth in LaPorte, working as a manager and a traveling opener.
She was a member of the LaPorte 1st United Methodist Church. She also participated in and enjoyed the Day Services Program for Seniors in Benton Harbor, MI.
