Thelma LaDonna (Schoff) McGinnis, 85, of La Porte, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Thelma was born in La Porte, IN, on April 27, 1936 to Emery Flavious and Mary Elizabeth (Lovekin) Schoff.
On May 9, 1959 in La Porte, IN, she married Jack Merle McGinnis, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2016. Also surviving are her children, Jack "Skip" (Dawn) McGinnis of La Porte, JoAnne (Bob) Faught of Valparaiso, Walter "Gator" (Congetta) McGinnis of La Porte, Thomas McGinnis of La Porte, and Mary Lou (David) Belcher of Chapmansville, WV; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Gribble of Logansport, brothers-in-law, Larry (Marge) McGinnis of La Porte and Earl (Carol) McGinnis of Michigan City; and several other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Don Scheidel; daughter, Betty Scheidel; brothers, William, Cecil, George, Donald, Warren, Emery, Robert, and Howard Schoff; sisters, Ethel Wanmer, Esther Conley, and Jennie Schoff; and great great-granddaughters, Emma and Aria Scarborough.
Thelma enjoyed puzzle books, flowers, bird watching, and collecting wind chimes.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A time of visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Due to the recent La Porte County Order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask.
