Thomas "Tom" Dobbie, 91, of Houston, Texas and formerly of LaPorte, Indiana, died on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in Houston.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte. The LaPorte Honor Guard will conduct full military rites.
Tom was born January 22, 1914, in Dunfermline, Scotland to James t. & Catherine M. Dobbie. In May of 1952, he married Hulda Kimmel New, who preceded him in death in 1991.
Surviving are sons Jim (Llana) Dobbie and Ward (Sonja) New and grandchildren, Lauren Michele, Kimberly Ann, Ward Jr., Yvette and Annette.
He was preceded in death by sisters Catherine M. Dixon and Agnes W. Lehker.
Tom?s family had immigrated to LaPorte in 1921. He moved from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Texas City, TX, where he was employed by Texas Refining, Inc. in 1960 as manager of industrial relations & personnel administration. Later he was promoted to vice-president and secretary, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #83 and VFW Post #1130 in LaPorte.
