Thomas Eugene Fountain, 67, of La Porte, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at La Porte Hospital.
Thomas was born in Logansport, IN, on October 8, 1950 to Edgar "Bud" and Jean Carolyn (Landes) Fountain.
Surviving are his beloved children, Ann Marie Fountain of La Porte, Melinda Jean (Thomas Cumbow) Fountain of Granger, and Mark Thomas (Laura) Fountain of Palos Heights, IL; 4 grandchildren, David, Margaret, Eloise Ann, and Henry; brothers, Joe Dean (Elizabeth) Fountain of Lafayette, IN, and Donald Lee (Linda) Fountain, Sr. of Louisville, KY; sister, Carol Jean (David) Miller of Brookston, IN; and his former wife, Margaret B. Fountain of La Porte. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Thomas graduated from Delphi High School and Ball State University. He was past President of Fountain Farm, Inc. where he worked with his father, Bud and brother, Joe. He later worked for the State of Indiana.
Thomas was a member of many different community organizations. As a father, he took the kids to the indoor pool every winter. He was an avid fan of the Indy 500 and the Cubs. He loved to play cards and going to the county fair. In his last few years, Thomas cherished his time with his kids renovating his home and planting his own urban farm. He especially enjoyed time with his grandkids.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM (CST) on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will take place at 2 PM (CST) (3 PM EST) at Pleasant Run Cemetery in Carroll County, IN. A luncheon from 4:30-7 PM (EST) will follow the burial at The American Legion Post #75, 3079 West 900 North, Delphi, IN 46923.
A time of visitation will be held from 5- 8 PM (CST) on Thursday, March 15, 2018 and from 8:30-9:30 AM (CST) on Friday at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
