Travis P. Disler, age 91, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.
Travis was born in Ft. Wayne, IN, on June 30, 1923 to Charles J. and Leontine (Juday) Disler.
Travis is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Helen A. (Hollopeter) Disler. Also surviving are his sister, Jackie (Disler) Clark of Tulsa, OK; his beloved children, David Disler of Ft. Wayne; and daughter, Jobey Hendel of Chicago; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Travis graduated from Leo High School in Leo, IN. He served honorably as a pilot of a P38 on Reconnaissance Missions with the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #224 in Leo, IN. He retired from GTE as a communication consultant.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, La Porte, IN. A time of visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Ave., La Porte, IN 46350.
