Virginia J. Lane, 75, LaPorte, died at 5:44 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 31, 2003) at St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Lt. M. Jo Langham officiating. Burial is in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until the service Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lane was born March 23, 1928, in Rossville, Ga., to Joe and Florence (Whitner) Hughes. On March 9, 1945, she married Donald A. Lane, who died Feb. 24, 1985.
Survivors include six sons, David H. Lane Sr., Kingsford Heights, Charles A. Lane, Charles E. Lane, J.C. Lane and Allie Lane, all of LaPorte, and Donald Lane Jr., Koontz Lake; three brothers, J.C. Hughes, Union Mills, Charles Hughes, LaPorte, and Herman Hughes, Florida; four daughters, Donna Lambert, Tucson, Ariz., Sally Bernth, LaPorte, Elta Lane, Kingsford Heights, and Virginia Lane, Oregon; two sisters, Juanita Glenn, Kingsford Heights, and Louise Wheaton, LaPorte; 33 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Hughes, and one sister, Mary Sue Chapman.
Mrs. Lane worked for Anderson's Sanitarium, Indiana Molding & Frame Corp. and retired from American Rubber Corp. after 15 years. She was a member of The Salvation Army.
