Wallace Henry Hamman, age 96, of La Porte & formerly of Plymouth, IN passed away Tuesday morning, January 29, 2013 at La Porte Hospital. He was born on July 16, 1916 the son of the late Edward & Louise (Frank) Hamman in Prescott, WI. On May 23, 1942 he married Lorraine Margaret Martin, she preceded him in death on November 9, 2010.
Wallace worked in a creamery in Prescott Wisconsin in his younger years. He then purchased a farm with his wife Lorraine in Baldwin, WI and farmed for ten years. He then sold the farm & became an ironworker and worked in many different states.
He is survived by two daughters, Arlene L. Lewis of La Porte, & Patricia June (Patrick) Thomas of Gloucester, VA. Four grandchildren, David (Kim) Melton, Chris Melton, Pam (Dennis) Zemialkowski, & Cherri Thomas, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Viola Filkins of Prescott, WI & Milly Glaus of Amery WI.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca A. Melton-Kowalski, three brothers, an identical twin brother, Wilbur “Bill” Hamman who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge, Milton Hamman, and Calvin Hamman.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott, WI on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 2PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.
