Warren C. Wakeman, 75, LaPorte, died of natural causes at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2003) at LaPorte Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cutler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Hadley officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Union Mills, to William and Nevada (McMillen) Wakeman. On April 23, 1949, in Hanna, he married Gladys H. Hunsley, who died May 21, 2001.
Survivors include one daughter, Jackie S. (Brad) Foldenauer, LaPorte; one son, Jerry Wakeman, Ann Arbor, Mich.; one grandson, Jay Foldenauer, LaPorte; two brothers, Morris Jim Wakeman, LaPorte, Wayne Wakeman, Union Mills; and one sister, Marlene Culver, Wanatah.
Also preceding Mr. Wakeman in death were one grandson, Scott Foldenauer; and one brother, Glenn Wakeman.
Mr. Wakeman had retired from Allis-Chalmers after working there for 38 years. He then worked at the Light House in LaPorte. Mr. Wakeman was an S&E Alumni and a member of the Coolspring Farmers Institute, Pine Lake Grange, and the Senior Citizens Center. He currently was the Master of Pinola Grange, served as President of Noble Township of LaPorte County Farm Bureau, and volunteered countless hours at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mill Creek.
