Wesley Kessler, 65 years old of La Porte, IN, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born October 8, 1944, in LaPorte, Son of Victor F. and Lucille Parthun Kessler.
On December 19, 1964, in LaPorte, he married Carol Ann Heiman, who passed away on May 18, 2007.
He was a member of Door Village United Methodist Church, where he was very involved as a Trustee, the La Porte County Fair Project, and the NEWDAY Foundation. He retired from the LaPorte Community School Corporation Maintenance Department after 31 years of service. Wes was an enthusiastic gardener and woodworker and an avid fan and supporter of La Porte High School sports.
Surviving are his two Sons: Steven Lee (Kim) Kessler of Phoenix, AZ and Michael Jon Kessler of Washington, DC; Sister: Patricia Kessler; Brother: Bruce (Donna) Kessler; Sister-in-law: Mary Kessler; Brother-in-law: Gary (Ruby) Heiman of Middlebury, IN; Nieces: Samantha (Jerry) Baltes and Melinda (Leo) Inestroza; Nephews: Travis (Melissa) Heiman, Chris Kessler, and Alan Kessler; and Step-grandchildren: Kate and Pat Malstaff.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Victor and Lucille; Brother, Ron Kessler; and Father & Mother-in-law, Harold & Wilma Heiman.
Services will be held 11 AM Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Door Village United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeffrey Jones officiating.
Friends will be received at the Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, IN on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 2-6 PM and on Monday at the church from 10-11 AM.
Interment will follow in the Door Village Cemetery , LaPorte, IN.
