Wilbur Walter Schiele, 93, of Rolling Prairie, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Millers Merry Manor.
Wilbur was born in South Haven, MI, on July 15, 1923 to Herman A. and Olga (Barth) Schiele.
On August 16, 1952, he married Pearl Eldred who preceded him in death on November 2, 2011. Surviving are his beloved daughter, Karen L. (Steven) Warren of Michigan City; sons, Richard A. (Karen) Schiele of Rolling Prairie and Gilbert G. (Janet) Bradburn of Rolling Prairie; and 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pearl Schiele; daughter, Amelia Schiele; brother, Robert Schiele; and 3 sisters, Olga Caddy, Bernadette Catlin and Martha Hatfield.
Wilbur was a US Navy veteran during WWII. He worked at Montgomery Wards for 15 years and New York Blower for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of the Best Years Group at the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. Wilbur enjoyed bird watching, and working in his yard.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
