William Dean, 88, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 12:12 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital.
A private family service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by Cutler Funeral Home.
William was born December 21, 1915, in Union Town, Pennsylvania to William L. & Margaret E. (Jones) Dean. On November 25, 1939, in Chicago, he married Jeanette Audrey Craft, who survives.
Survivors also include daughter Billie (George) Callas of LaPorte; son-in-law Chuck F. Hildebrand of Leesburg, FL; grandchildren Jamie (Dr. Randy) Duckert of Omaha, NB, Chuck W. (Bonnie) Hildebrand of Cameron, NC, Jim (Nicole) Checolo of Piney Flats, TN and Jeff Checolo of LaPorte; and great-grandchildren Kyle, Kelly, Daniella and Michael Duckert, Amanda, Alyssa, Jessica and Jacob Hildebrand and Alexa and Kirsten Checolo.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Hildebrand, an infant daughter, Diane, an infant son, Richard, two sisters, Jean Goldman and Peggy Price, a brother, Jim, a granddaughter, Jennifer Hildebrand and an infant grandson, Jeffrey Hildebrand.
William was a retired cable splicer for General Telephone Compnay. He was also a veteran and a member of LaPorte First Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband of 64 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He also loved to fish and garden.
