William G. "Bill" Ekins passed away on November 21, 2012 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on September 22, 1956 to Ronald & Dorothy (Swan) Ekins in La Porte. On August 7, 1982 he married Terri Post; she survives.
He is also survived by, his wife Terri Ekins of La Porte; two children, Jamilyn (Ashley Jones) Ekins and Brandon (Korei Comeno) Ekins both of La Porte; three special grandchildren, Aiden, Emma, and Wyatt; a sister, Gail Feikes of Dallas, TX and a brother, Brian Ekins. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Ekins in 1987 and his parents.
Bill was the owner and operator of Ekins Auto Electric in La Porte and worked for the South Bend Tribune for 15 years. He coached girl's softball for the Parks Department during which his teams won several championships. Bill was a formula Indy race car driver for many years and also raced High Performance Go Karts. He was in incredible husband, father and friend who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and was always willing to lend a hand to help.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery in La Porte.
Friends and family will be received at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Tuesday November 27, 2012 from 5-8 PM and from 1:30-2:30 PM on Wednesday prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.
