William "Bill" Russell Marquardt, 66, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 3, 2017.
Bill was born in La Porte, IN, on September 11, 1950 to Russell William and Phyllis Rose(Peterson) Marquardt.
On September 19, 1970 in La Porte, IN, he married Peggy Miller who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Christopher Marquardt of La Porte, Nevada Marquardt of Indianapolis, and Sierra (Shawn) Smith of Michigan City; four grandchildren, Harper, Amara, Damion, and Roison; sister, Becky (Larry) Pierce of Kingsford Heights; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a great-great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Curt Marquardt.
Bill was a master craftsman putting his gift to work for himself as the owner of Marquardt Construction and at Von Tobel Lumber as an outside salesman. After retirement, he became a school bus driver for La Porte Community Schools. He cherished his school bus students from Riley Elementary. Bill enjoyed watching sports especially the Chicago Cubs. He loved getting together with family and friends. Bill loved life and always managed to find the good in people and situations. Bill had a true servants heart and was loving, patient, and giving to everyone.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Bethel Chapel, 2805 N. State Road 39, La Porte. Pastor Jim Mandeville and Pastor Larry Owen will be officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 3 - 7 pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10 am until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place at a later date.
