William "Stu" Moore, 72, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. John J. Strebig officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from noon until the time of the service. There will be a private burial at a later time.
Stu was born December 31, 1933 in Bartow, Florida to the late William Stuart & Eddie (Everett) Moore, Sr. On December 4, 1954, in Sullivan, Indiana, he married Shirley Brown, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Pam (Tom Dormady) Moore of Kalamazoo, MI, Lorrie (Alberto) Moore-Curmen of Flowery Branch, GA and Susan Moore of Knox, IN; son Dan (Kris) Moore of Wabash, IN; grandchildren Nichole (Chad) Reading and Rose Knotts; two great-grandchildren; and sister Beverly (Bill) Johnson of Muncie, IN.
Stu had worked in the LaPorte Community School System until he retired in 1986. He had taught at Riley Elementary School and had been principal at the Washington and Handley Elementary Schools.
He grew up on Sullivan, Indiana and had lived in LaPorte since 1960. He had also served in the US Navy.
