William N. Gourley, 71, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 31, at the Cutler Funeral Home with Steven Gierke officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
William was born July 13, 1933 in LaPorte County to Ida Gourley. He was raised by his grandparents, Ray and Cora Gourley. On May 20, 1971, he married Marsha A. Senne, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Kathleen Wurtlin of LaPorte and Virginia Gourley of Monon, IN; sons Ronald Johnson of LaPorte and William Gourley of DeMotte, IN; and grandchildren Justin Wurtlin, Trisha-Ann Hurley and Christin Noelle Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother, Richard Gene Gourley, and his grandparents.
William had worked for Smith Chevrolet and had retired from LaPorte Transit after 30 years.
He had served in the US Navy from 1955-1957. He was a member of the LaPorte Moose Lodge and had been involved in the LaPorte County 4-H Horse and Pony Association.
Memorials may be made to the Kankakee Township Volunteer Fire Department.
