William "Bill" Smith

William "Bill" Basil Smith, 71, of Hanna, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

William was born in La Porte, IN, on March 27, 1945 to Wilburt and Cora (McGee) Smith who preceded him in death.

Surviving are his siblings; Marjorie (Ronald) Cuff of Hanna, John (Pamela) Smith of La Porte, Wilburt Smith of Hanna; 18 nieces and nephews; 14 grand nieces and nephews; aunt, Betty Snyder formerly of Bremen; and uncle, Robert McGee of Fish Lake.

William served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at American Rubber and also worked as a Farmer. He raised cattle and was in 4-H during his youth. He enjoyed harassing his nieces and nephews and loved to make candy, especially caramel corn, fudge, and peanut brittle that he would generously share with family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Roger Ash officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of the service on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hanna Cemetery following the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hanna Food Pantry.
