William McKinley Turner, 73, of Hamlet, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Millers Merry Manor in Walkerton, IN.

William was born in Crockettsville, KY, on June 8, 1944 to William Herold and Gertrude Turner.

On June 8, 1990 he married Lee Nora Turner who survives in La Porte.  He is also survived by his brother, Alvin Conley (Carol) Turner of Booneville Kentucky; sons, William Hoffer of Walkerton IN, Jason Hoffer of South Bend IN; daughters, Amanda Hoffer of Mishawaka IN and Kimberly Schultz of Michigan City IN.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Turner; sister Lena L. Johnson; and brothers, John Reed Turner, Paul Turner, and Roy Lee Turner.

Affectionately known as Papaw by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, William “Rebel” Turner drove semi with Wanatah Trucking for 23 years before becoming a Business Agent for
Teamsters Local 135. He served 3 years in West Germany with The 4th Armored Division of the United States Army.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM (CST) on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

A time of visitation will be held from  4-8 PM (CST) on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 12 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at a later time privately at Patton Cemetery.
